Production and processing characteristics of precision metal stamping

Precision stamping manufacturing technology has become an important part of the component industry. Most precision metal stampings are used in aviation, automotive, ship, machinery, chemical industry and other fields. So, how are precision metal stamping parts processed? The main characteristics of precision stamping are high production efficiency, simple operation, easy mechanization and automation. Precision stamping process is mainly affected by the type of equipment and workpiece materials.

1、 Process Advantages of Precision Metal Stamping Parts

Precision metal stamping parts are formed under the premise of low material consumption. The parts produced by this are light in weight, good in stiffness, high in precision, uniform in scale, and good in interchangeability with dies. During stamping, because the material appearance is not easy to be destroyed, it can maintain good appearance quality and facilitate subsequent surface treatment.

2、 Selection of Precision Stamping Materials

There are mainly three kinds of stamping processes: blanking, bending and deep drawing. Different processes have different regulations on plates, and the shape of products should also be considered when selecting plates.

1) The blanking requires that the sheet has sufficient plasticity to ensure that the sheet will not dry and crack during blanking. Soft materials have good blanking characteristics and are suitable for parts with smooth section and small slope after blanking.

2) The plates to be bent and formed shall have sufficient plasticity and low yield limit. The high plastic plate is not easy to crack when bending, the bending limit is low; the low elastic die has small elastic deformation after bending, and it is easy to obtain accurate bending shape. Brittle materials should have a relatively large bending radius when bending; otherwise they are easy to crack during bending.

3) Deep drawing is a relatively difficult process in precision stamping, so it is not only required that the drawing depth should be as small as possible, but also that the shape should be as simple as possible and the transition should be smooth. It also requires that the material should have good plasticity; otherwise, it is easy to cause the overall distortion of the part, local wrinkling, and even cracking of the stretching part and other quality problems.
